Hisense AX5125H 5.1.2 Soundbar Review: Punching Above Its Weight

Contact us

If you’re looking for a soundbar that delivers a true home cinema experience without breaking the bank, the Hisense AX5125H 5.1.2 deserves your attention. After testing it thoroughly, here’s everything you need to know before buying.

First Impressions: Build & Design

The AX5125H feels solid and well-made. It’s not the most stylish soundbar on the market, but it’s far from unattractive. The finish gives a sense of quality, and for the price point, it feels like a premium product.

Setup: Simple, But Don’t Skip the Settings

Getting it up and running is easy—plug in, power up, and you’re good to go. But here’s the catch: don’t stick with the default settings. Out of the box, ours was set to Stereo, meaning every speaker played the same audio. It sounded big and room-filling, but not true 5.1 surround.

Spend a few minutes in the settings menu and enable Surround Sound and DTS. This unlocks the full potential of the system and gives you that cinematic experience you’re looking for.

Our Recommended Settings:

  • Mode: Surround Pro
  • Bass: 3
  • Treble: Max (for crystal-clear dialogue)

Sound Quality: Big, Bold, and Immersive

The subwoofer is powerful, but placement matters. Behind the sofa gives you booming bass but less projection into the room. Placing it in front creates a more balanced sound, though slightly less dramatic during big moments. Every room is different, so experiment—thankfully, the sub is compact enough to move easily.

The rear speakers and sub connect wirelessly (apart from power) and sync via Bluetooth without fuss. No dialogue lag, no latency issues—just smooth, immersive sound.

Dolby Atmos: Don’t Buy It for This

The Atmos feature is underwhelming. The up-firing speakers don’t deliver a noticeable overhead effect. If Atmos is your priority, go for separates. But for everything else, this soundbar shines.

Performance vs Price

For the money, this system is exceptional. It’s loud, clear, and fills the room beautifully. The ability to adjust rear speaker volume is a standout feature—crank them up for that true cinema feel. Paired with a Hisense TV, you’ve got a setup that punches well above its weight.

Yes, LG and Samsung lead the market, but at double the price. A top Hisense TV plus this soundbar costs far less and still delivers a fantastic experience.

Final Verdict

If you want a sound system that feels like a real home cinema—easy to set up, well-built, and powerful—this is my go-to recommendation. You simply can’t beat having dedicated rear speakers for that immersive surround sound.

Separates will always sound better overall, especially in the midrange, but for most people, this soundbar is more than enough. For the price, it’s unbeatable.

Bottom Line:
✅ Great build quality
✅ Easy setup (with a little tweaking)
✅ Immersive sound with adjustable rear speakers
✅ Incredible value for money
